| Dear , Investigating Sharia Law In the midst of Sharia law's malicious advance against America and Texas, I chaired our second House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government hearing highlighting this threat. Entitled, "Sharia-Free America: Why Political Islam & Sharia Law are Incompatible with the U.S. Constitution: Part II," I examined how the rise of Sharia law in America poses serious risks to our civil liberties, founding principles, and republican system of government. With witnesses Amy Mek, the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of RAIR Foundation USA, Ammon Blair, a Senior Fellow at the Texas Public Policy Foundation, Marco Hunter-Lopez, a student at Wylie East High School, and Amanda Tyler, the Executive Director of the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty we also discussed how Sharia-based institutions may violate federal law and the Constitution and proposed legislative reforms to fight this invasion. In coordination with my legislation, H.R. 6225, the PAUSE Act, H.R. 5722, the Preserving a Sharia-Free America Act, and H.R.8387, the MAMDANI Act, and my work as co-founder of the Sharia-Free America Caucus, I am dedicated to halting the advance of Sharia law in its tracks. Honoring our Nation's Law Enforcement Officers during Police Week Every year, Congress recognizes the heroism of our nation's law enforcement officers during National Police Week. This year, the House advanced four measures strengthening the tools for police officers to keep us safe and honoring their selfless service. I cosponsored and the House passed, H.R. 6260, the Keeping Violent Offenders Off Our Streets Act, to strengthen federal bail policies to keep criminals behind bars, voted in favor of H.R. 5625, the Cashless Bail Reporting Act, to create a centralized list of leftist jurisdictions that offer cashless bail, I voted in favor of H. Res. 1252 which memorialized law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty, and I voted in favor of H. Con. Res. 96 to express Congressional support for law enforcement officers across the country. I will continue to support our law enforcement officers in their duties to keep our streets and families safe. Rep. Roy on Police Week: "During National Police Week, we recognize the courage and sacrifice of the brave men and women in law enforcement who put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities safe. I am proud to stand with law enforcement by advancing legislation that supports officers, protects public safety, and ensures those who wear the badge know we have their backs. While too many on the Left continue to demonize police officers, Republicans remain committed to backing the blue and ensuring law enforcement has the tools and support necessary to do their jobs effectively and safely." Deal Death, Face Death Act I introduced the Deal Death, Face Death Act, H.R. 8766, which would allow the death penalty as punishment for those who knowingly distribute fentanyl or any drug mixed with it that results in death. Fentanyl kills tens of thousands of Americans each year, leaving countless families without their loved ones, creating irreparable harm for individuals and communities nationwide. In 2024 alone, fentanyl poisonings killed nearly 48,000 Americans - an average of over 130 deaths a day. Most illicit fentanyl is made by Mexican drug cartels using Chinese precursor chemicals and smuggled across the southern border and sold by street gangs. Peddlers of this poison who sell and distribute fentanyl bear the responsibility for Americans dying, often lacing fentanyl with another drug without a person knowing, and often tragically dying. If you distribute lethal poison to Americans, you should face the ultimate punishment. Rep. Roy on Fentanyl Poisonings: "How many more families should have to go through tragedy after losing a loved one to fentanyl? Not one more…Fentanyl is killing hundreds of Americans every single day, and the people trafficking this poison should face the harshest penalties available." Sister City Transparency Act I introduced H.R. 8833, the Sister City Transparency Act, which would direct the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to review sister city partnerships in the United States that pose potential national security threats, particularly those from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Across the United States, local governments maintain approximately 1,800 sister city partnerships with foreign communities worldwide, including 157 partnerships with Chinese communities. While these partnerships are intended to promote cultural exchange and economic cooperation, they are increasingly being leveraged by foreign adversaries- particularly the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)-to advance strategic interests under the guise of soft diplomacy. Specifically, my Sister City Transparency Act would: examine partnerships involving foreign communities in countries with significant public sector corruption, including the People's Republic of China and the Russian Federation; assess the extent to which foreign governments or affiliated entities could exploit these partnerships to conduct malign activities, including academic, industrial, and economic espionage; evaluate the oversight practices currently used by U.S. communities to mitigate risks associated with foreign partnerships; and identify best practices to improve transparency regarding sister city agreements, activities, funding, and personnel. Rep. Roy on the Sister City Transparency Act: "America's local communities should never be left vulnerable to foreign influence operations masquerading as cultural exchange. The Sister City Transparency Act brings much-needed oversight and accountability to these partnerships, helping ensure they serve the interests of the American people-not the strategic ambitions of the Chinese Communist Party or other foreign adversaries." District News Devastating Crime Spree in Austin My team and I are actively working with local officials and law enforcement to monitor the fallout from the horrific shooting spree in Austin. Recent reporting indicates that four individuals were wounded, with one suffering critical injuries, after three criminals committed a violent string of shootings, vehicle thefts, and robberies across South and East Austin, including attacks against the fire departments. Local officials have reported that all three suspects have been taken into custody and that there is no ongoing threat to public safety. The 17-year-old arrested reportedly is not a U.S. citizen and is being held in an ICE facility. My team and I will continue to monitor the situation for the latest updates, and I look forward to the swift application of justice to those who would perpetrate horror against our communities. Rep. Roy on the Austin Shootings: "I commend the bravery and steadfastness of the Austin Police Department and Manor Police Department officers who apprehended these dangerous suspects. My office will continue to monitor for further updates." Business of Rebuilding Event for Kerrville Small Businesses After the devastating Guadalupe flood last July, Team Roy attended the "Business of Rebuilding" event in Kerrville. The event, organized to bring together small businesses that were impacted by the flooding, heard from Texas State Rep. Wes Virdell and other panelists about the investments our community is making to strengthen the local economy and memorialize those lost. Thanks to the Lift Fund for hosting such an important event. Congratulating District Seniors on Outstanding Academic Excellence I am proud to announce that thirty-six High School seniors from the Texas 21st Congressional District have been awarded the Exceptional Senior Award (ESA). This award, pioneered by my office in years past, recognizes High School seniors who have consistently displayed high levels of character, leadership, integrity, and diligence. These virtues are evident through their philanthropic activities, academic success, and reputations among peers and teachers. I am grateful to the families of these exceptional seniors for their love and support throughout their educational journeys and to the faculty of schools across our district who recommended these individuals for the ESA. Rep. Roy on the Exceptional Senior Award: "I am proud of all that the incredible young men and women of Texas' 21st Congressional District have achieved. Texans have reason to be optimistic about our great state's destiny with them as our future leaders." You can find a full list of the seniors who have received this award on my website, here. Media Corner Joined Rep. Scott Perry to discuss the RFS Mandate alongside an E-15 Expansion Rep. Roy to Fox Business: "Spot on from Rep. Scott Perry. This fight is not over. Republicans shouldn't prop up crony mandates that harm our country. We should refuse to advance any legislation that allows E15 year-round until we REPEAL the RFS." You can watch my interview with Bottom Line with Rep. Scott Perry on E-15 and our comments on other pressing issues here and here. Discussing the Advance of Sharia with Andrew Kolvet on the Charlie Kirk Show Rep. Roy on the Charlie Kirk Show: "It takes a lot of work to get people here in Washington to want to take on Islam because they're afraid of being called 'Islamophobic.' For me, I'm afraid of losing America." You can watch my comments to Andrew Kolvet here. Joined Kayleigh McEnany on Fox News to Discuss Biden and Mayorkas' Border Catastrophe Rep. Roy to Fox News: "There's a reason that President Trump put President Biden's picture up as an autopen, because he knows who was actually in charge, and it was the Leftists and the Marxists." You can watch my interview with Fox News' Kayleigh McEnany here. Discussed the Dangers of Mass Immigration with Fox Business' Maria Bartiromo Rep. Roy on Mornings with Maria: "Democrats have been more interested in importing almost 6 million people from majority Muslim countries since 9/11. They don't care about the status and the security of our country." You can watch my comments to Fox News' Maria Bartiromo here. Joined Newsmax to Discuss My Hearing Examining the Advance of Islam and Sharia Law Rep. Roy on Newsmax: "What we're seeing in this political ideology is a purposeful effort to shove Islam into all corners of the United States. And it's very simple, Islam is not compatible with Western civilization." You can watch my interview with Newsmax here. Discussed How Both Illegal and Legal Immigration have Allowed Sharia to Spread Across the U.S. with Steve Deace Rep. Roy on the Steve Deace Show: "If we think what's happening in London and Paris is not happening here on steroids, we're crazy. I think we will surpass how bad it is in the United Kingdom and France very quickly." You can watch my comments on the Steve Deace Show here. Sincerely, |
